I am a board-certified OB/GYN (Germany) and gynecologic oncology trainee with a strong interest in translational oncology. Before joining the Steele Labs in 2023, my research at Leipzig University focused on mechanisms of loco-regional progression of gynecological tumors - mainly cervical cancer - and the evaluation of novel surgical strategies to improve disease control. At the same time, continuous collaboration with soft matter physicists helped me to contribute to our understanding of how tumor cell motility and shape affect cancer cell behaviour and metastasis. My current fellowship in the Jain lab allows me to temporarily transition from clinical research to basic science to investigate how changes in the tumor microenvironment (TME) affect anti-tumor immunity. I am particularly interested in how the gut microbiome and chronic diseases such as hypertension re-program the TME to affect tumor growth and immune response.
